Counseling Cell

In today’s fast-paced and competitive world, students face personal, social, academic, career planning issues. Considering this as the biggest challenge, VCET provides counseling to the students.

The purpose of the counseling cell is to assist the students in dealing with their problems and enable them to resolve their issues independently. The vision of the counseling cell is to create a positive environment in the institute and enable people to contribute as individuals to the whole organization and community.

VCET has also appointed a well-qualified and experienced psychologist, Mrs. Poonam Surange (PG Psychology (Gold Medalist), MS-Psychology, PG Diploma in Guidance and Counseling) to provide counseling to students. The counseling services are provided at the individual as well as the group level. Orientation and life skills training are also part of the activities. The duration of counseling sessions depends on the nature and complexity of the problem.

The vision of the counseling cell is to create a positive environment in the institute and enable people as contributing individuals for the whole organization and community.

Student Mentoring :

A well-structured mentoring (proctor) system prevails in the institute.

Objective:

The faculty members are actively involved in mentoring the students with an objective of ensuring the holistic progress of the student. Mentor system is also meant to encourage healthy relationship between the students and the faculty.

Process:

  • • During the orientation programme, the first year and direct second year students are introduced to the mentoring system. Parents of the admitted students are also oriented about the same.
  • • Each mentor addresses approximately 15-20 students. These mentors counsel the students until their graduation.
  • • The mentor maintains a record book which has personal details and fields to observe academic, extra, and co-curricular performance of the mentee.
  • • The record maintained by the mentor includes:
    a. Personal details of the mentee
    b. Information about his/her family
    c. Academic record regularly updated by the mentor
    d. Details about participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities
    e. Attendance record f. Record of meeting with parents
  • • The mentor also communicates the performance of mentee with their parents/guardians.
